When activities are submitted for 2024, they will appear here.
When an Activity Submission is approved by the Activity Coordinators, the activity will be added below. This list may be useful to avoid having your youth come up with a duplicate activity.
2024 Activities - Colony
Activity / Group
"Alien Orbit" Alien orbit- the Beavers need to keep the ball in orbit and away from the alien
"Sponge Toss" Beavers toss wet sponges on their leaders heads in the wall cutout
"Our version of kubb" Knock over bowling pins with bean bags
"Rocket re-fuel" Water games with sponges and buckets. Beavers must work together (in possible groups) to pass a sponge down the line and empty into the bucket(rocket) and then pass it back to re-soak. Goal to fill the common rocket as fast as possible. Alterations include running the sponge over or using spoons to carry the water. Alternate option available with balls if weather does not permit using water.
"Pom pom launch game" fill toilet rolls with pom poms, add balloon to 1 end and pull balloon to launch the rocket
"Mars Rover Beavers use dollar store grabbers to collect Mars Rocks
"Rocket launcher" See how far they can launch rockets
"Alien tag " Avoid being tagged by the aliens (alien glasses)
" Octopus " 3 or 4 youth sit in field holding pool noodle, while other youth try to to get past them (Obstacle course)
"Nest Egg Return" - return the egg to the nest

Activity / Group
"MOON IS LAVA" FLOOR IS LAVA GAME -- MOON THEMED
"Soccer" Split up the group into equal teams and play a game of soccer
"Ailien Orbit" Have the children stand in a circle, these children are earthlings. Select one child to be in the center, this person is the “Alien”. Handout the balls to the earthlings. When the game starts the earthlings around the circle toss the balls around to each other When the player in the center gets a ball, he or she abducts a person from the circle (selects a person to join them).
"Mini Golf" More information coming soon
"Survival on an Alien Planet (Flint & Steel Fire Starting)" Cubs, working in pairs/small groups, will learn to ignite cotton balls with "Flint and Steel" (Ferro Rod). More advanced cubs may light a small pan fire with flint and steel.
"Match rockets" match head that is inserted in rolled up aluminum is lit and is launched several meters.
2024 Activities - Troop
Activity / Group
"Sonic Knott" Tie three different giant knots around the rocket launch site. No one is allowed inside the 15m blast zone. Tests knowledge of knots, team work and problem solving. From 1st Carp Jade Dragon Troop
"Compass Clue" Patrols will be solving a mystery by finding clues using a compass. From 1st Kanata Beaverbrook Troop
"Blast Alien Targets" Patrols will have to Lash 2 sets of 3 spars together to form tripods. After inspection of the tripods the group will be provided with a slingshot to mount between the two tripods. The groups will read a bearing, aim their slingshot and fire water sponge balls at Alien Targets. From 19th Nepean Troop
"Flying Saucers and Battle War" 2 Patrols can compete to use Flying Saucers (Frizbees) to knock plastic bottles off poles. 1 point for each water bottle that hits the ground without being caught by the opposite team or patrol. Up to 2 or 3 youth per end. From 2nd Almonte Scouts
"Laser Bolt Training" Patrols will be using bungee cords to fire clothes pegs at targets. From 7th Kanata Troop
"Launch your water rocket" Each patrol will build a tripod and attach the water bottle rocket to it then launch the rocket using air pressure. From Glen Cairn Katimavik Falcon Troop
"Find the alien base" Each patrol will follow a course using a GPS to coordinates provided. There will be more than one point involved. From Glen Cairn Katimavik Falcon Troop
"Troop Canoeing" Patrols will be taking turns going for a one hour canoe from the Fitzroy Provincial Park Beach. This activity will be done in 4 one hour shifts of 18 Scouts.
